How to preprocess Survey3 images in MAPIR Camera Control (MCC)

After taking survey photos, you need to prepare the photos for the orthomosaic generation software. The following steps will explain how to convert RAW to TIFF images. If you're only capturing images in JPG format, you can skip to calibration (if necessary).

RAW and JPG images are saved in the Photo folder inside the SD card's DCIM folder. We recommend that you move the DCIM folder from the SD card to your computer hard drive to speed up processing time. Create a new folder in the DCIM folder called something like "Processed".

Download and install MAPIR Camera Control (MCC) to get started.

On the Processing tab, select your camera model from the drop-down menu. Click the Browse button and choose your input and output file locations. Then click the "Process Image" button to start converting RAW to TIFF images.

Images will be processed as quickly as your computer can. This may take a while, so please be patient. Once the process is complete, a log window will notify you that it is complete.

You are now ready to load the imagery into your ortho mosaic generation software. If you have captured multispectral reflectance data, we recommend that you calibrate your images for best results.
